Quicktime playback is choppy/laggy with Mov file in high resolution

I try to play a .mov file in Quick time player (version 10.4) on my Mac Pro 15-inch and the video in high resolution (H1080) is played choppy, the image lags behind the sound. This was not a while ago. It just happened. The same happens if I play the project file in Adobe Premiere Pro.

The same video in low resolution (H264) plays well.
