BenQ BL2420PT Monitor / MacBook Pro 13" mid 2012

I have a MBP 13" mid2012 with a i7 processor and the Intel HD Graphics 4000 trying to connect to a 2k monitor (BenQ BL2420PT) but I cant get the 2K resolution option.

The system only offers to choose the 1080p option as max resolution but I know the graphics can handle the 2k according to the official specs.

I tried buying a 4k Thunderbolt to HDMI adapter and a 4k HDMI cable because I thought, maybe, the previous didn't support that resolution but nothing changed.

Any advice or possible solution?
