MacBook isn’t charging

I accidentally spilled water over my MacBook and now it isn’t charging it works however when it died it stopped charging. Any ideas how I can fix it??

You need to take your MacBook into the Genius Bar or an Apple Authorized Service Provider to get your MacBook fixed.

Getting a lithium battery wet can be a very dangerous thing.

They can swell, overheat, discharge gas, catch fire, or even explode.


When lithium gets wet it catches fire.

Here is some lithium from a battery dropped in water.


Unplug the computer immediately!

  • Some say leave the computer powered on to let the battery completely drain.

I suggest you leave it outside or in a fireproof space while it is discharging if you do that.

If the battery is removable: wear safety gloves and goggles, go outside or to a ventilated place

away from flammable items, and then very carefully remove the battery.

Put the computer, or the battery if you removed it, into a safe container (fire resistant) and

store it outside away from where it might do real damage to a house or car,

and get to a professional.
