On Windows X, there is a little button in the corner of the taskbar that will show the desktop. However, on the top bar on High Sierra, there is no button to show the desktop next to the notification button. The only way I know how to show the desktop is to manually minimize all the windows.
Is there a keyboard shortcut or right-click on the dock that will show the desktop without said method or is that the only way?

Nb. the Fn key is usually marked as lower case: fn, bottom, & left of key ctrl.
FWIW, You can set a Hot Corner to show the Desktop. System Preferences > Desktop & Screen Savers > Screen Savers, click the "Hot Corners…" button, choose the corner you prefer and choose "Desktop" from its drop down menu. Then you can show/hide the Desktop anytime you move the cursor in that corner.
Yes, depending on certain macs you will either have to use three or four fingers, to show the desktop place your fingers on the trackpad and swipe up you will then see the desktop.
