Does Enhanced Dictation work in OS X Mojave on Mac Pro (Late 2013)

I cannot get enhanced dictation installed on my Mac Pro running Mojave. I start it and it says it is looking for download then I get a message "Dictation languages aren't available to download at this time. Try again later". Keep trying but keep getting the same message.

Had an old MacBook Pro with El Capitain and tried installing and it downloaded and installed. Tried all the trouble shooting I could find but there is nothing I could find specific to Mojave.

Does anyone have any insight on Dictation and Mojave?

Before you do a tabula rasa of the installation, try downloading, and installing the same or newer version Mojave combo updater from Apple's download site. This is not a clean install, but may replace anything sideways outside of your home directory, which it will not touch.

Ran the Mojave combo update and after a few restarts I think I have managed to get enhanced dictation to work. Will give it a work out over next couple of days to see if it is working properly.

[redacted ... /viking]. Was going to mention the possibility of missing microphone, and then after a sip of black coffee, I see the microphone is recognized, so not that issue. If this was a temporary Apple server unavailability, has the download subsequently succeeded?

Does that microphone work on other Macs? Have you rebooted into Safe Boot Mode, and then rebooted normally? Does the download occur after a normal reboot?

No it has not. It downloaded just fine on my old MacBook pro last night at the same time I have been trying on the Mac Pro. Thinking I might try to do a Mojave Reinstall (Restart Option-Command-R) to see if that fixes?

I did try the safe boot and rebooted - same results. Then did a shut down completely and restarted - same results. Did try microphone on old MacBook Pro and works fine. Which I thought it would since it does work with Siri.

Will try the Mojave Combo Update and see what happens.

Yes, that is what I have done but I get this: it says it is looking for download then I get a message "Dictation languages aren't available to download at this time. Try again later". I have unchecked, checked rebooted, deleted com.apple.assistant.plist files, etc. But it will not work.

I have set this up on other macs and just did on an old MacBook Pro running El Capitain. This is the first attempt to try on Mojave.

I have noticed that some applications will not open with "Open" or "switch to" i.e "Omnifocus". OmniFocus is listed under applications in the Dictation commands - In fact it is listed twice as well as several other apps.

Any insight on this? Everything else appears to be working correctly.

I have no idea. I never use Dictation to launch applications… unless by accident. I told it to switch to Firefox, which it did, but when I told it to quit Firefox, it entered "quantify or farts" in the search field. Go Figure.

You are welcome, and good luck with it. When the Dictation icon appears and you finally have the microphone metaphor in the icon, tell it to "show commands." This will bring up a bunch of commands that you can speak. When you are done, just say "Stop Dictation."

Are you trying to enable it correctly? Open Keyboard preferences and click on the Dictation tab at the top. You should see a checkbox to enable it.
