I unpaired and then paired my watch again. It's working the way I thought it should now.
Then again, you'll have to turn off haptic notifications on your watch when you don't want to be disturbed. Mirroring your phone by just muting notifications on the phone, doesn't eliminate notifications on your watch.
Because you simply muted your phone. That didn't stop your phone from getting notifications, so it's not going to stop your watch from getting notifications.
You are more than welcome to let Apple know this is a feature you'd like to see on Apple Watch, via this link: https://www.apple.com/feedback/watch.html
Then turn notifications on your watch off. Just muting notifications on your phone doesn't turn notifications on your watch off. What your watch is doing is normal and expected behavior.
You apparently don't understand my complaint. I don't want haptic feedback on my watch on messages muted on my phone. I'm getting notifications on my watch that I don't want. The conversations are muted on my iPhone so why is my Apple Watch not mirroring the settings on my phone?
No. I have a few contacts and a couple groups that don't need immediate attention. The groups are large and I don't want to be annoyed with the constant notifications, so I mute them on my phone. However, the Apple Watch buzzes all day long with these notifications.
I would think that a $400 watch would be capable of doing what I'm asking about. If I set my notifications in the watch app to mirror my iPhone, why doesn't it do that? I know how to set my watch to do not disturb. If the watch is incapable of doing what I'm asking for, Apple needs to fix it. This doesn't seem like a big ask. By the way, are you an Apple support employee?
It's because you have messages muted on your iPhone.
I must be a terrible communicator. I don't want ALL message notifications off on my watch. Only the conversations that are muted on my phone. Is this too difficult to understand?
It's not difficult to understand at all, it just doesn't work that way.
Well, then why does Apple Support Communities say it is? https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8396271
Did you say you were trying to mute only certain messages from some contacts?
I would think that a $400 watch would be capable of doing what I'm asking about.
I know the feeling. I want it to make my morning coffee.
