Nested Playlists

Hi,

After spending over an hour downloading the New OS i feel slightly ripped off by apple after finding out the Ipod i bought which was markedted to me as an Ipod 3G is actually a hyped up 2G (the 8GB model) i then felt more cheated as i find out that almost all of the new features arent available on my Ipod.

The one feature i really wanted was The nested playlists or Playlist folders. I cant seem to figure out how to do this so can someone please talk me through it.
I shall be very disappointed if this isnt available on the 8GB model and will greatly reduce my opinion of apple.

Are you sure you're not talking about folders for apps? That is a feature of iOS 4 and one that the 2nd gen supports. You can create a new folder by pressing on an app icon until it jiggles then dragging it on top of another app.

Don't believe playlist folders were implemented for the Touch.

It definitely states this on the iOS 4 page as well as in many spec reviews etc.

Nice to know. It may be another feature that may not be available on the 2nd gen. However, as I haven't seen it discussed at all til this thread, I don't know.

Hmm i hope thats not the case because its the only reason i chose to upgrade the firm customers have absolutely no official tech support available to them.

I solved The Problem. You need to allow Itunes To Sync Your Music Library, that way it takes across all of the folders and playlists too.It wipes out your current Library but replaces it with the folder Structures and files etc from your itunes library.

That makes sense. You could only view folders on the Nano and Classic if you were syncing, not if you were manually managing. I'd forgotten that.

Note that you can trick the system to allow playlist folders with manual management. You have to first auto-sync to create the folders, then change to manual mode. However, any playlists you create after going into manual mode will not be in the playlist folder structure.
