my damaged iPhone won’t allow me to turn off find my iPhone

Help. I need to turn off find my iPhone. The iPhone is damaged is damaged & when I try from other devices or from iCloud.com, with Apple Support, erase only shows as pending after 40 min.. now, I stopped it earlier after 1 hr +. There’s no option to remove the device. Insurance won’t replace without it removed.
