while signing in to the App Store on MacBook Air, after entering my login details, I cannot sign in and get the error, "An unexpected error occurred while signing in."
let m know if any one else had the same issue while signing in.

I understand you received an error message when signing in to the App Store on your MacBook Air. I would suggest signing out of the App Store on your Mac. From the Menu bar of the App Store application, click Store > Sign Out.
Confirm your payment details are up to date - Change or remove your Apple ID payment information
Then restart your computer to refresh the internet connection, launch the App Store application, and sign in again.
If you can't connect to the App Store, iTunes Store, or Apple Books

Thanks MoonJ for your advice, but I have installed a fresh copy of Mac OS Mojave, this did the trick for me. My Apple ID is now working in App Store and iTunes but its not working in iCloud.
when I go to System Preferences > iCloud, enter my Apple ID and password than enter verification code received on my iPhone, iCloud login page comes back. in this way I am stuck in this loop.
Any advice and help is appreciated.
