Apple Watch Series 4 extended warranty

If I buy the $79 AppleCare+ extended warranty for my watch am I not paying for a year that’s already mine with my watch purchase? I get one year with the purchase but Applecare+ Starts the date of original purchase.

As I started to buy the extended warranty I saw this narrative in the AppleCare+ details: “...AppleCare+ for Apple Watch and Apple Watch Nike+ extends your coverage to two years from the original purchase date of your Apple Watch...”. So you comments are not in agreement to the terms. According to the terms, I would be paying for coverage that I’m already getting with the watch purchase, since the AppleCare+ dates back to WATCH PURCHASE date, not AppleCare+ date.

You're paying for an additional year of warranty (which therefore extends you original one year warranty to two years) and you're getting a bunch of other features.

The page I linked to is very clear about what you get. And, as I quoted the document, I'm not sure how my comments can fail to be in agreement.

I don’t know what link you got your information from, but on Apple’s website here is a copy of their terms regarding the AppleCare+ Plan:

“Every Apple Watch and Apple Watch Nike+ comes with one year of hardware repair coverage through its limited warranty and up to 90 days of complimentary support. AppleCare+ for Apple Watch and Apple Watch Nike+ extends your coverage to two years from the original purchase date of your Apple Watch and adds up to two incidents of accidental damage coverage, each subject to a $69 service fee, plus applicable tax. In addition, you’ll get 24/7 priority access to Apple experts by chat or phone.”
So-like I said, the first year cost is “Free” with my watch purchase. So buying this “Plan” for two years from the watch purchase date is actually paying for that first year and/or getting one added year for $79. The language in the Plan terms is deceiving.

Apparently you didn't read my post as that is the exact section I quoted. It says that it "extends it to two years from the original purchase date". It doesn't say it "adds two" years. It says that it moves the end date of the warranty out a further year. While I understand that you don't like it, there's nothing deceiving about it. The first paragraph you quoted says what comes with the device as part of the purchase cost. The second paragraph explains what you get when you pay the $79.

Bottom line: if you don't think it's worth it, don't buy it.

AppleCare + extends your warranty for an additional year. It also gives you additional benefits:

Every Apple Watch and Apple Watch Nike+ comes with one year of hardware repair coverage through its limited warranty and up to 90 days of complimentary support.

With AppleCare+
AppleCare+ for Apple Watch and Apple Watch Nike+ extends your coverage to two years from your AppleCare+ purchase date and adds up to two incidents of accidental damage coverage, each subject to a $69 service fee, plus applicable tax. In addition, you’ll get 24/7 priority access to Apple experts by chat or phone.
