when I start recording, Sometimes I want to pause the voice memo when there is a Lull in the conversation Or when students are practicing an activity. I would like to begin again using the same recording but when I push the red button, the voice memo ends and the new recording must begin. Please advise

With the built in iOS voice memo app, that isn’t going to work. You will need a third party app with indefinite pause function.

There are are a large number of recording apps in the App Store though so a search may find something much better suited to your usage.

Lately, but not always, when I hit the red button to stop after the recording has been going for awhile, the red button changes to 'resume' so that the video pauses and I can then continue.
Confusing. Any idea why this happens but not always?
(I'm sure it's me! not understanding something about the app)
