I do not wish to display some things in my iPad that I use in my iPhone such as messages, email, numbers

I primarily use my iPhone. I want to give my ipad to my niece. iTunes Apple Acct will stay in my name. I do not want the iPad to have access to my Messages or Email or docs and maybe other stuff. I don’t care about pictures being shared. Can I do this?

iPad 2, 9

You can set up a Family Sharing and a child's Apple account for her by following the instructions in this support article. Most, if not all of the purchases that were made on your ID originally will be available to her via the Family Sharing. It's exactly what you are looking for, I believe:

Set up Family Sharing - Apple Support

Feel free to come back to this thread and ask additional questions if you need help as you are setting it up or using it 😊

Do NOT keep the iPad on your iCloud account. Use the link below to prepare the iPad for a new user. Then set up the iPad for your niece with her own Apple ID. If you want to share things like apps, etc., set up Family Sharing. This is the only way to ensure your messages, etc., cannot be seen by your niece.

What to do before you give your niece the iPad: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201351

If you don't feel capable of doing this, schedule a appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar and they will help you.

No. If you share an Apple ID, then any services that you turn on for the device will be shared. You may be talking about two different devices, but you are also talking about one Apple account. Apple accounts are not meant to be shared.

Can you explain why you want to use your Apple ID on a device you are giving to your niece? There are other alternatives, but we need to know what you are wanting to achieve in order to determine if any of them would provide the solution you are looking for.

She’s 12 yrs old. I have this IPad Pro 12.9 inch ( I think 1st or 2nd generation, not sure which, but pretty sure not 3rd gen since it doesn’t have face recognition) that works so much better for her than what she currently uses and honestly I rarely turn it on. She has poor eye site and she is challenged. I hadn’t thought about just setting her up with her own Apple ID. That makes sense. She has quite a few games on this IPad Pro already and wasn’t sure how I’d keep them to reinstall for her if started over. This all hurts my head LOL!

I may try the Genius Bar. I’m probably just barely above average tech wise, but don’t want to lose things that perhaps could have been saved. Did I say she’s challenged? If she ends up losing her place in the games she plays I’ll never hear the end of it. I don’t think I have her setup in the Game Center but instead she’s probably on mine. I appreciate your help and advice. And we’ll see. You may hear from me again if I get brave and read enough to have confidence I take the correct steps to get this done. Thank you!
