Touch ID no longer working

Hi, my phone updated to iOS 12 last night and now my Touch ID no longer works. I tried resetting my fingerprint, but it is as if the home button is “blind”. I have an iPhone 5S, has anyone else encountered this problem?

Touch ID issue of iPhone 8 After updating IOS 15.3 , the Touch ID stopped working and only finger print sensor used to work.but after some time it stopped working. Doing reset of the iPhone gives me a message of press home to upgrade, even while trying to backup the data from laptop also facing the same challenge of press home to update
