IF there's no way to get another copy from ? original source or the author
where the authentic article could be copy protected by an individual, you
may be out of luck.
If the document loads in software and you can try to view it, there may be
more than one way to see if it can be printed. ~ However there may have
been a limited time-frame in which to access and use the document.
Sometimes you may be able to see content of PDF but not print it; an image
of what you see could be made. That said, unless you are authorized, that
may be infringing upon copyright an original author has rights over.
And some PDF features won't work in Preview application if custom to Adobe.
Because a document authored in Acrobat may be locked to use Adobe's apps.
If you can open and view the document, print options may be available to you.
Without knowing what you have or what you did to try using it, it's speculation.
The Adobe Acrobat DC has free less featured version; but it may not unlock
custom features, or special time-out content. Consult the author if not yours.

Unless you purchase a higher standard version of Adobe Acrobat, some custom
feature may not be available to you; however their regular free version may handle
documents that Preview may not. (Surprising, what Preview can do, though.)
Because you hadn't suggested any specific software was involved, hard to guess.
