Some mail accounts not in Mail sidebar

I have two email accounts that are not displaying in the Mail sidebar. The accounts are active and working - I can send and receive mail - but they are not displayed. The accounts are from different providers, one is recent and the other I have had for many years. I have attempted removing and re-adding the accounts but this didn't solve the issue. Any ideas? Thanks!

Hello there rcmit,

We appreciate the screenshot. For the next step, I recommend creating a temporary user account on your Mac and then adding the same email account/accounts to see if you can replicate the behavior there. This would tell you more about the issue, including if it's system-wide or specific to this user account. Here's How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac. You'll find additional steps in that resource depending on how the testing goes. If you find this doesn't get you to a resolution, I recommend reaching out to Apple directly using this link: Contact Apple Support

Have a great day.

Hi rcmit,

Thanks for the post in Apple Support Communities. I see you may be having an issue viewing your individual email accounts in the Mail app.

Removing and re-adding the accounts was a great start. To double-check, if you click Inbox in the left-hand column, are you able to read the email? If so, look for an arrow to the left of Inbox and click that to see if this shows your individual accounts. The screenshot under the "Organize your email" section of the following link will give you a reference on what to look for: Mail User Guide

I hope this helps get you started.

Cheers.

Thanks for the response. Yes, I can read the email from the missing accounts when I click on Inbox. When I click and rotate the arrow next to Inbox it does show all my accounts and I can read email from all accounts. What I don't see are some accounts listed at the bottom of the left panel where I can show or hide individual folders under the accounts. These accounts and their folders are visible on another mac (a mac mini) running the same version of Mojave but not on my MacBook.

I attempted to add a mailbox (Trash) under one of the missing accounts, but I receive and error that the Trash mailbox already exists - which it does on the server. If you're able to see the screenshot, you will notice that two accounts displayed at the top, Sandwichweekly and Comcast, are not displayed at the bottom.

Thanks again!

Sarah_s1,

Thanks for the response! I've attached a new screenshot. Actually the accounts and folders listed at the bottom of the sidebar reflect the host folders for the associated accounts. The new screenshot has On My Mac and my Yahoo! account expanded (click on Show to the right of the account). If I attempt to create a new folder, such as Trash, and associate it with my Comcast account, I will receive an error that that folder already exists (which it does on the host). On my other Mac (a mac mini) all the accounts display correctly and I have added only the On My Mac folders manually.

Hi rcmit,

Thanks for that follow-up. Regarding the Trash folder, what are your settings for Trash behavior for the Comcast account? You can check by clicking Mail > Preferences > Accounts. Then, click the Comcast account in the left-hand column and then click the Mailbox Behaviors tab. If you have "None" selected next to Trash Mailbox, try changing that to see if it makes a difference: Change Mailbox Behaviors preferences in Mail on Mac

When it comes to the differences you're seeing between the two Mac computers, which macOS versions are you running? If you're not running the latest, it may be helpful to update both Mac computers to ensure they're on the same versions:

Kind regards.

Thanks Ryane77 . Both my Macs are running Mojave OS X 10.14.3

The Comcast Trash mailbox is selected but, as you can see from the attached screenshot, the Trash icon is gray out. I should note that this Comcast account isn't the only account that is missing from the lower section of the sidebar, and is not available for rules, there is another account that is not hosted by Comcast.

Thanks again,

Robert
