iPad has got the activation lock but it won’t accept my password

My iPad has got the activation lock but it won’t accept my password even though it’s the correct password!

Do you have any other Apple IDs? Did the iPad ever belong to someone else, or did someone else set it up?

Sign in to the Find iPhone app on your iPhone. Do you see the iPad there?

Nope only got the one Apple ID and it works fine on my iPhone. And no I’ve owned the iPad from new

Perfect! Click on the iPad and click 'Remove' in the top right corner. Restart the iPad, and it should let you set it up without the Apple ID and password.
