Apple ADC/DVI w/ 2000 Apple Studio CRT Display

X-post from Reddit-- After my original attempt at utilizing a Vintage Display,{https://tinyurl.com/y5o9y4wm} I was feeling pretty ambitious and purchased an ADC/DVI adapter off of eBay. {https://tinyurl.com/y3exl2be} I received this adapter today along with an Apple HDMI to DVI adapter in the mail-- I opened it all up and cleaned it with magic eraser, then I connected everything. {https://imgur.com/gallery/hIq9i24} Unfortunately, I cannot seem to get it to work. I have verified that the display still works with my PowerMac G4 Cube, and that the HDMI to DVI adapter functions as well. I have also connected the adapter to another computer directly using DVI and there is no video either. As you can see in the gallery photos, it is recognized as an Apple Studio Display, and it seems to be powered. The USB ports also work. Am I missing something? Should I just return it? Thanks for all of the help!

The Apple DVI to ADC adapter is for LCDs only. It will not work with a CRT ACD. The adapter does not passthrough the analog VGA signals, and its power supply is not designed to provide enough power for a CRT display.

There were some non-Apple adapters that did handle the VGA signals

but check the power supply capacity. You need at least 24 V 5A. You could use your on power supply.

The Apple adapter does not handle the analog video signals. It uses a DVI-D connector, which does not have pins for the analog video signals.

If you zoom in on the third picture here

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Apple-DVI-to-ADC-Adapter-Model-No-A1006-EMC-No-1918-100-240V-1-5A-50-60Hz/323693981558

you will see that the analog video pins are missing.

The adapter may provide sufficient power for a CRT with no video because a black screen needs less power, and may even be in a sleep mode.
