When it says An Apple ID verification code is required I get it on my phone and it says type your password followed by the verification code shown on your other devices.And this is on the MacBook Air and there’s no spot to put the code at for the verification.
Try selecting another preference pane and then go back to System Preferences/iCloud. Start the log in again, but when you enter the password, add the code at the end.

It goes in the password box after the password.

It says password followed by the verification code. So enter it as I suggested in my last post. You won't get a separate code box.

If you see a password box, enter the password (ABC) followed by the code (123) or ABC123.
Enter the code you get on your phone after the password. ABC123 where 123 is the code you got on your iPhone.

Yeah after the password box right there not another box that shows or pops up and doesn’t not allow it it just says press okay
