iCloud was Unable to Unlock this Volume

My password all of a sudden doesn't work on my macbook pro. The device is showing up under my apple ID. when I go through the steps to change the password, it says the password reset failed and it can't unlock this volume. What on earth is going on!??

What volume are you trying to unlock? Where isn't your password working?
