Screen protector stuck tight on Iphone

My screen protector is fixed very tight onto my phone. Have tried heating it up with a hairdryer but it still will not budge. I have resorted to using a metal nail file to get it off and have spent half an hour chipping away at it, have still not got past the home button and my hands are bleeding from all the broken glass!!!! PLEASE HELP ME?!??! I dont know what to do and now there are just sharp bits of glass sticking out of the screen protector which is really dangerous.
