Flakey focus with iPhone 7

30 plus year professional photographer.

On wide shots (landscape) tap to focus in the middle and the left side

of the image exhibits a radial blur (looks like camera movement). Tap

on the left side of the screen and the left side now appears sharp, but

the right side goes haywire. Those are all on wide shots. Move in

extremely close (almost macro) and the image is sharp in all four

corners. Repeatable on multiple high quality photo apps, including RAW

and TIFF. The phone/camera has never been dropped, abused etc. iPhone

7, 128GB. Of course the iPhone is out of warranty. In all of the years of carrying an iPhone I've never seen this happen - and it shouldn't!

As mentioned previously, I've exhausted all of the suggestions listed in your link to no avail. According to Apple's support site, out of warranty repair for something like this is $349.00 which is both ridiculous and cost prohibitive. For as much as these phones cost and the way this phone has been babied - there's no reason a customer should have this issue. My conclusion now is that the hardware is defective and has been from the beginning.
