I noticed I was billed $40.66 to my credit card. I’m wondering what this bill was for as I am also being billed monthly for Apple Music and smaller bills regularly. The monthly payment isn’t a concern but everything else is!!

If the charge is not listed after checking your Apple purchase history, it is a fraudulent charge which you should present to your card issuer for resolution.
The previously linked Support Article states:
"Before you contact Apple to request a refund for a charge you don't recognize,
check your purchase history and follow the steps below."
If you follow the steps provided you should be able to determine "What would this charge be for?"
Perhaps, If you see 'itunes.com/bill' or an unfamiliar charge on your statement - Apple Support will help you solve your problem.
