How do I calculate an age from a date of birth in 1 column & place the age in another in Numbers iOS 12

Hi,

I have a column in Numbers (iOS 12, iPad Pro) with a date of Birth in it. I have a column next to it that I want to display the age. Can anyone help me out with a formula for automatically displaying the age. Please note that the rows I need to display athe age in are merged. I’m not sure if that matters or not. Thanks in adavance.

Good catch, Jason!

I use DATEDIF like this for years and months

Formula in C2 =DATEDIF(B2,TODAY(),"Y")&"y "&DATEDIF(B2,TODAY(),"YM")&"m"

Ian.

When you try to do a calculation where you subtract dates, Numbers tries to force you to use a duration, but that typically gives me weeks. And 2481 weeks isnt how we think about age.

So what i typically do is strip the duration (literally the function is StripDuration) and then divide by 365.25

=stripduration(now()-C2)/365.25

If you want to get to just age in years, dont use round, that will round up if they are closer than 6 months to their next birthday. Use FLoor.

=floor(stripduration(now()-C2)/365.25,1)

the number one at the end is the "factor" basically what multiple a number do you want to go down to. in this case the closest multiple of 1.

Thanks

Jason
