iTunes issues with backup / restore and password being incorrect

I have been trying to restore my sons IPhone SE through iTunes. Then I try it asks me for a password which I don’t recall setting. I’ve tried all password combinations I can think of with no joy.

As I experiment I then backed up my own IPhone 8, it asked me for a password which I put in.

I then tried to restore my iPhone 8 from my new file, when it asked me for the password I put in the new password I had set but again was told it was incorrect. Any idea why this is happening?
