Old macbook pro (2012) won't update to v10.8, can't use app store
can't use app store until I update my OS but can't update OS without accessing app store ????????

MacBook Pro 2012 is supported on El Capitan, High Sierra, and Mojave, but you'll first have to install El Capitan...
- Create an external backup or two,
- check that your key apps are supported,
- check that your printer(s) have drivers available from the printer vendor(s),
- download El Capitan on another Mac.
- use the El Capitan download on that second Mac to create a bootable installer,
- transfer and boot the El Capitan installer on your MacBook Pro 2012 Mac, and upgrade to El Capitan.
- From your MacBook Pro 2012 running El Capitan, you should be able to download and install High Sierra, or Mojave.
Make certain you have at least one external backup created before upgrading.
Upgrades don't fail very often, but they do fail.
