Wall Charger of new iPad is not working

I just got a new Ipad 64GB and I observed that the wall charger adapter is not working.
I checked the cable and it is fine as it charges the iPad when connected to the computer USB and it syncs.
I also tried the wall power adapter of my iPhone and it works perfectly fine. It charges the iPad as expected.
Thus it is the iPad power adapter.
Anyone with this issue?

Kappy, just replaced my iPad at Best Buy yesterday as I also had the wall charger die after one week of use. Best Buy replaces the iPad and boxed accessories as opposed to just the defective charger itself. Quite the pain as the new iPad then has to be setup all over again. Makes me wonder if there's a batch of defective iPad wall chargers in circulation. Anyone else?

my ipad charger is not working either.

I have all the latest updates installed.

exact problem - after having connected to the wall charger for 8 hours all I got was 4-5% increase in my charge level. been to apple store twice and they see immidiate bump of charge 2-3%, then think its no problem at all. I dont have time wait out 8 hours but I'm camping out right now at an apple store for an hour to demonstrate to them that charger or device may be defective. This is my second ipad, first one had a defective dock connector (defect surfaced about 4-5 week after the purchase).

Suggest that you first check using a different cord as well as checking to see if the original cord charges the pad when it is attached to a computer.

The apple usb connector charge design requires that specific voltages also be provided to the data lines by any charge source, so, as a result, many chargers, both AC and automotive, cannot be used to charge apple devices... tech specs on this are at

http://pinouts.ru/PortableDevices/ipod_pinout.shtml

...specific information is in the comments for pin 27 (pin 25 and 27 connect to the two data pins in the four pin USB connector)

Hope that this information is of value.

Hey,

Ive been having the exact same issue.. The charger worked for the first week and then it died.. Ive been trying to get in contact with apple in australia but I cant find an email address to contact someone about this issue.
I went back to the place where I bought it from, however they said that they dont deal with the chargers, how can this be so if they are providers of apple.
Please help me with this issue as I am tired of charging off my computer and having it on everyday.

I have the same problem and found a solution. I have two 16 GB ipads and several ipods around so was able to isolate that when using the sync cable provided with the ipad (the slim ones) the ipad and ipods did not charge correctly (very slowly if not at all). When using one older sync cable (fat connector) on the wall charger, the problem is gone. Unfortunately, I have juste one of those, but at least I am sure that it will work.

I also encounter sync issue with those small connectors : connections goes on and off without a predicable pattern.

So from my experience: the problem is not related to the ipad, the problem is not with the wall charger and using an older ipod sync connector solve the issue. The issue is with both usb connectors included with the ipads, so getting a new similar one is unlikely to solve the issue.

The wall charger is a problem. When mine stops working I slide it apart put it back together and it starts charging. But it has to be watched closely due to it stopping working 4 to 5 times per charge. Then you have to repeat the procedure and it starts working again. I ordered a charger from buy.com that is a non-apple travel charger. It does not slide apart like the original which I think it has a connection problem. The non apple charger is rated the same as the apple one but it does not have that slide apart connection.

Hi,

I am also having the wall charger issue. The wall charger didn't work from the starting of my purchase. All of a sudden it started working but the charger is heating up once it is connected to the power supply chord.

This is brand new ipad 2 bought it from apple store online. The charging is inconsistent because it is working on and off.
