GPU Failures

Hello,

approximately every two moths I have a GPU Failure and my mid-2011 iMac (High Sierra) won't work.

This happening from a loooong time ago.

I have to take it to the service. From there, they told me it's the temperature which cause the GPU to pull away. I have an app to see the temperatures. I see sometimes these temperatures go up to 98 Celsius (209 Fahrenheit) but it is for a one-two seconds only.

Is there an app to show me which application specifically increase the temperature mostly ?

I have EtreCheckPro but I can't find a way to see what's going on.

Thanks

John

Hi John, in my experience with iMacs anything over 70° C. 158° F. is shortening the life of the GPU, I use this to not only monitor the temps, but to increase the fan speed to keep temps down, on my 2011 iMacs the ODD fan cools the GPU best, but I step them all up. It's one of the reasins I didn't get the 2012 iMacs as they have only 2 fans not 3 like the 2011, & no ODD or fan.
