Ipod touch 7th Generation

Hey so my buddy is trying to say he has a 7th generation Ipod touch but I can't seem to find it anywhere on the market?

Im kinda confused on all this since I am a long time 6th gen user and was looking to purchase a 7th generation.

Your friend is mistaken. There is no 7th generation iPod Touch.
