Word envelopes print blank after HP printer Software Update
As recommended by Software Update, I just installed the latest HP printer software. Now when I try to print an envelope from Word (Office X for Mac from ~2000 - it's been working great all these years), the envelope shows up fine on the screen but nothing is printed on the paper. When I choose 'File>Print>PDF>Save as PDF...' no file is created. When I click 'File>Print>Preview,' no Preview window is launched.
Everything is working fine with a plain Word document, it's just envelopes that no longer print or create PDF's/Preview documents. The problem occurs on both a LaserJet 1200 and a Photosmart C7280.
Anyone else having this problem? Suggestions? Thanks.
To clarify - the envelope is physically transported through the printer as if it were printing, but no ink is applied to the paper. Same behavior if I send 8-1/2 x 11 paper through the printer instead of an envelope.
Thanks - good thought. Tried all suggestions in those threads, none worked. Simple Word text documents print fine. Envelopes are blank. Today I printed a document with a bullet list; the preceding text printed fine, the first bullet printed, everything after the bullet is blank. This did not happen before the software update. Any other thoughts?
Yikes - I don't know what Console or CUPS logs are.
Given the finite time I have to learn new things, I've come up with a solution that is either very elegant or very inelegant, depending on you perspective.
I downloaded NeoOffice, which opens Word files fine and prints them properly. Actually is much more functional than my creaky old copy of Word. And I downloaded the EasyEnvelopes widget, which prints envelopes fine.
Bottom line, I've used this printing nuisance to liberate myself from Word. Thanks for your thoughtful input!
