I own a iMac G5, Serial Number QP*****TAR. My customer number is *****.
I have a current operating system OS X 10.11.6 and I need an upgrade to OS X 10.12 to install my Turbo Tax Deluxe 2018. How can I upgrade to OS X 10.12 (or later) to file my 2018 Federal and Stat Income Taxes?

A G5 iMac cannot upgrade to 10.12.x, they cannot upgrade beyond 10.5.x. However you may not have a G5, to know for sure what you have please click the Apple icon in the upper left of the display and then click About this Mac and it will advise the year iMac and version of Mac OS installed.

The serial number is correct for your G5 iMac. However, as stated you can't upgrade to 10.12. As a matter of fact you can't upgrade past 10.5.8 so not sure why you think you are running 10.11.
Yup, a 2007 is too old for 10.12. At 10.11 your machine is at the very end. If you have a need for 10.12, this will require a new Mac. the current release of Mac OS is 10.14, so even 10.12 is considered old.

Just to add, you can't even get your iMac serviced by Apple or an AASP at this point.
Depending on the age of your computer it may be too old to upgrade to 10.12. What year is it, if you don't select About this Mac located under the Apple symbol in the upper left of the display.
A Mid-2007 can't be upgraded beyond 10.11.*
