how difficult is it to restore a full backup from iPhone 6 to iPhone XR?

I am considering upgrading my iPhone 6 to a new iPhone XR. Which is better: backup to iTunes or to iCloud? What are the problems faced when restoring my backup to the new phone?

iPhone 6, iOS 12

When I traded in my 6S for the XR, I performed a restore via iCloud with the sales person, just in the event something went awry, such as my back-up being corrupted. When I got home, I plugged in the XR to my laptop and made a new back-up to iTunes and iCloud. So if you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself, then have the sales person assist you with restoring your latest back-up via iCloud.

iTunes will likely be faster for both backup and restore as it a cabled connection. iTunes backups require an encryption key to include health, home and password data. You MUST remember this password going forward and if forgotten, can't be reset.

iCloud backups are convenient as they do not require a cable, but can be very slow to both backup and restore, depending on the amount of data. They are already encrypted, so do not require the extra password/key.

You decide which is better.
