I can’t add messages to my watch face, not an option, why?

It doesn’t really matter. If they are able to set it up on the iPhone, but it won’t translate over to the Watch, it typically means the Watch just needs to be updated since the face does support the desired complication.
Because Apple chose not to provide that function.
What model of Apple Watch do you have and what version of watchOS are you using?
I just bought series 4 model and I have the X iphone. I had series 2 iWatch and messages were on the watch face but I can't get them on this one.
Also I have the option to add messages to watch face from my phone when i customize but it does not carry over to my watch
What face are you trying to customise?
