Apple Watch 4 running distance VS exported gpx file

hello,

I've been running using my Apple Watch 4 and according to it I've run 8.28 kms.

I've exported the GPX file for that running workout and I see that the GPX file says 7.97 kms.

Does anyone know why this difference? which is the right one?

And most important, how accurate or reliable is my Apple Watch when running?

Many thanks in advance for your replies.

I use the Watch to track the workout and then HealthFit to export the data to Strava and to Dropbox (GPX file).

Strava and the Watch show the same distance. The point is when I visualize the GPX file that is when I see less distance (I can upload the file to Strava and see the difference between what has been automatically imported and the GPX file).

The GPX file is based on the GPS location each second and this is what drives me crazy, why if the Watch uses the GPS to track the workout the result is different?

Thanks

Apple's response is... "calibrate your AW"... don't know what to say.

I will use Endomondo APP for my next running workout. Let's see the distance difference between the APP and the GPX file.

Perhaps Apple Workouts is correcting or fixing the GPS data somehow so the distance is actually based on the GPS data + some adjusts from the APP.

Let's see how it goes.
