Safari doesn't load sites

A colleague's husband uses an iMac at work. I don't know the model, or what OS he is running. But he approached me about a problem he has. When he opens Safari, sometimes the page won't load. When it does load, he tries to get to another site, and that site doesn't load. He mentioned to me that one of his coworkers, whom we shall refer to "A-Hole", went ahead and installed Mac Auto Fixer, I believe even before there were Safari problems. So this poor guy removed the app and put it in the trash, then emptied the trash. But he only removed the app file itself. How can he get Mac Auto Fixer fully off his system? Is it possible that MAF itself is causing the Safari problem?
