Browse Apple Music Alphabetically?

Ok everyone, simple question: I just got apple music and there's a button called "Browse" and what I would like to do is browse the ENTIRE collection alphabetically, or at least click on a genre and browse A-Z, like a how music is organized in a record store or on an ipod. How can I do this? Please tell me there is a way to do this. That is after all what browsing is, right? Hah.

to browse

to look over or through an aggregate of things casually especially in search of something of interest

Do you really think people (more than a handful) are going to browse a list of 50 million songs? Browsing is done in a more manageable way here, catered to a larger group than just the alphabetical list enthusiasts. 😉 Search engines have learned us that people rarely go beyond the first 10 in any listing anyway, and often go for the top 3 results.

‘Browse’ in Apple Music is a good place to discover music that you weren’t aware of, or wouldn’t necessarily search for without advise, without being overly targeted at your specific tastes and history (looking forward instead of looking backward).

also, as long as we're joking around about definitions, aggregate can mean

"formed or calculated by the combination of many separate units or items; total."

What you could possibly find on Apple Music may in fact be total, and I believe there is a wealth of music there, but "browsing" only populates a list of around 50 records for each genre or whatever filter you select, so it's almost like they're obscuring that giant library beneath a sort of veneer of adele records and making it actually more difficult to find something to listen to.

Hey Urquhart, thanks for responding. I get that there is a ton of music to look through, and that apple music is catering to people who don't actually like looking for music. I was merely curious if an option existed to browse through artists (not songs, which doesn't make sense anyway). I would counter though, that browsing through a record store is totally manageable and people do it all the time and there's something to be said for discovering music that way, as opposed to browsing through, say, a magazine with suggestions for "Hot" or "Popular" records. I find the interface clunky and limiting. Like for example, if I was thinking, "man I want to listen to something but I can't think of my favorite records right now...." I might just want to scroll through a huge list of artists and see something I like or whatever. Instead, I have to scan my memory and after about 10 minutes realize that I want to listen to a Kraftwerk record. But then I have to search for it anyway, which means that, to access the artists I'm interested in, I actually have to go somewhere else to find it. Does that make sense? I'm just surprised that you can't do this, even with filters like genre or decade, it's just like, "here's the new Drake record..." I don't know, seems dumb to me.

Thanks anyway though!

That is the part where Siri can help out. “Hey Siri, play <artist>”, “Hey Siri, play <song> by <artist>”, “Hey Siri, play <playlist name>.”

almost like they're obscuring that giant library beneath a sort of veneer of [big name artists]

I agree that a lot of gems are likely lost in obscurity. That is unfortunate. But we listeners can’t expect help from record companies, that see the best ROI on their big name artist. So it is up to the human reviewers to bring non-mainstream music gems in the spotlight. Curated playlists on Apple Music are part of that.
