Jason,

Yes, the latter. I've used Excel for years - just basic spreadsheets - & am trying to transition to Numbers.

I did find this link, which looks like it will be helpful. https://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/0/MA664/en_US/Numbers09_UserGuide.pdf

Hi Steve,

The link is to the manual for Numbers '09 (aka Number v2)

Numbes v3 and later versions were a from the ground up rewrite. Different application, different (and smaller) feature set, same name. Many of the previous features have reappeared, or are implemented differently, and several new features have been added since the rewrite.

Either way, though, you'll find that 10 year old manual a less than perfect fit with the current version of Numbers.

And we look forward to your questions here.

Regards,

Barry

Hi Steve,

None that I'm aware of.

The templates provided with Numbers are useful places to explore for insights on what works and how.

The function Browser, which opens in the right sidebar whenever you select a cell and type = in it, has a categorized list of all functions supported in Numbers, with a description for each, syntax and descriptions, and at least one example of how to use it in a spreadsheet.

Most functions with the same names behaviour in Numbers is similar to that in Excel. Excel's array formulas are not supported.

Date and Time, and Duration are handled differently. Date and Time are not separate values—cells displaying a Date or a Time actually contain a Date & Time value. If entered as a date only, the time part is set automatically to 00:00:00 (midnight at the beginning of that date); if only the time part is entered, the date part is set to the date on which the entry was made.

Duration is a measure noting the 'amount of time' that has passed.

There's more, but that'll give you a place to start.

Barry

Have you had a look at Help > Numbers Help and Help > Formulas and Functions Help in your menu? And studied the templates at File > New in your menu?

There is a lot of helpful material in all those places.

If you need more of a "manual" you could try Take Control of Numbers. I haven't used it, but it may help.

Thanks for the link, SG!

I did a quick read of the 'free sample,' which seems to be pretty full of useful information. They seem to be on top of things like updates as well.
