+1 prefix in phone numbers

Last night my incoming calls are showing a +1 prefix so they aren’t being recognized in my contacts

I don't think a Verizon iPhone has this, but just in case:

Check Settings > Phone. Is there a "Dial Assist" setting? If so, it should certainly be "On".

If not, try force restarting your iPhone as follows (assuming you have an iPhone 8):

  • Press and quickly release the volume-up button
  • Press and quickly release the volume-down button
  • Press and hold the side button until the Apple logo appears.

If one of the above doesn't solve it, I am out of ideas. Maybe Verizon could assist.

"+1" is the international dialing code for the United States.

  • Are you in the United States?
  • Did you purchase your iPhone in the United States?
  • Is the Region set to the United States? (Settings > General > Language & Region > Region)
  • Have you been outside the United States recently?
  • Is your iPhone associated with an American cellular carrier?
  • Has it always been associated with an American cellular carrier?
