Totals based on variable cell inclusions

What I'm looking to do is total a set of numbers which are included or not dependant on the value in a neighbouring cell.


In the example below, table 2 totals separately those with a C or a U in column c. I need to be able to change a U to a C or vice versa and have the totals change when I do this.


It doesn't matter what values I use in column c to achieve this, if numbers work better I'm ok with that, I intend making it a conditional field so it looks like the bottom image anyway.

SUMIF is your friend here:



=SUMIF(Table 1::C,A2,Table 1::B)


If you think you might be adding more than one condition you could also use SUMIFS, where the order of the arguments is slightly different (the sum column comes first followed by column-condition pairs).
