Basically I am on the market for a new MacBook but was unsure how upgraded I should buy one off the bat. At the highest options the laptop would cost close to 5k which is fine but I’m not sure I need that much laptop. I was wondering how easily upgrade able MacBook pros are if I wanted to increase it capabilities as I go along.

You can not upgrade after purchase. And be sure you know what model computer you are buying. You mention MacBook in your post but you posted in the MacBook Pro community. They are not the same computer.
