My printer is printing everything small or over sized even tho my settings or correct.

It is a Mac issue not printer, as I went and bought a brand new printer thinking it was the printer. It only happens with some applications and not others.

Thanks to retina displays (and for some of us, aging eyes) text printed on the screen is uncomfortably small. There are two ways to 'fix' this - one good and one not so good. Many programs (Word & PDF Viewer & browsers) allow you to change the magnification of the document. I have Word set for 125% magnification on my iMac and 150% on my MBP. This has no impact on what is printed. The other way you can compensate is by changing the font size which does have an impact on what you print.

With one exception, those are the only things that can change the size of text on the printed page. Once you've begun the print job and the printer dialog appears, you can change the scale - sometimes in terms of percentage and some times in terms of fit to page.

So, if your application has a normal size font selected, say 12 pts, and you've not changed the scale value, you should have printed what you see on the screen. This is true of programs that are text based, programs that are bit mapped (like photographs) there's a bit more to it. But that has nothing to do with Word for example.

....ok then...

PDF viewer, MS Word, emails (Hotmail, Mail, Gmail): if i have the settings on Letter size paper and 100% the preview shows that it is going to print way too big, and it does. If I have the settings on Letter size paper and scale it down, or have it on Fit page, then the preview shows it fits the page great, except when it prints it prints it down to like 25% of the page.

I have tried to use my computer to print: corded, wirelessly. I have rebooted the computer and the printer. I went as far as buying a new printer, and it still does it. If I use my windows computer, it prints fine. Therefore it is an issue with my Mac.

I did find a thread from 2013 where the issues was the Mac and it was a setting that was hidden that had the printer stuck to A6 size (which makes sense) the original poster only said that they found the setting, but did not explain the fix.

This is not a font issue. It is - the computer has a setting stored somewhere that I can't find to correct the size of the document - issue.

As I said above. I have played with the scale of the document and either way it is way too big or way too small. It is not in fact printing the document at 100% and letter size as I have the setting.s
