Iphone swap

If I buy a refurbished iPhone from an alternative source like my carrier store, will apple still be able to put everything from my old phone onto the new phone? Any restrictions with this method?

Apple won't do anything, you're responsible to back up your old device and then restore your new phone from said backup.
