Clip live photo to shorten the long exposure affect

Is it possible like to shorten the length of a live photo to shorten the long exposure affect?

I know how to clip/trim the photo so that the live clip is shorter, however I can't get this shortening to affect the long exposure result.

I am using a work-around with the help of iMovie and the app Into Live Pro on my iPhone. It is a bit involved, but works.

  • First, I export the Live Photo from Photos with "File > export > Export unmodified original". This will export a video component and a still frame.
  • Then I stabilize and and trim the video component in iMovie, render it as a new file and reimport it to Photos.
  • On the iPhone I use Into Live Pro (or Into Live) to create a new Live Photo from the trimmed video clip.

Editing in iMovie allows me to select the part of the video clip that can be stabilized and will give the best long exposure effect.
