Can I “freeze” apps on my iPhone?

Hello.

Can I make app static in the background?

For example, I have Uber app that I use only when abroad, making it useless most of the year.

I would like to minimize it’s background options (such as downloading new data, notifying me etc) but still keeping the app on my phone. I believe that would make my phone faster without having to remove/install apps.

Restricting it from notifications, making it not using cellular data are two things that come to my mind, but are there more? GPS? Can you restrict app on background checks at ALL? Making it only do something when I get into it manually?

Thanks in advance.

You can disable apps from refreshing in background. Your battery will drain less fast

  • tap on settings
  • tap on General
  • tap on 'Refresh in background'
  • disable the Uber app or even more apps from refreshing
