I tried making a checkbook earlier and it seemed to work. Now I have started over and I can't get the formula listed on an earlier post to work. (Referring to the checkbook template thread/7914226) Is there a newer template? I'm using Numbers 5.3 and High Sierra 10.13.6.

What is not working?
Taking Wayne's second example, formula in F2 (and Fill Down)
=IF(OR(D2≠"", E2≠""), SUM($D$2:D2)−SUM($E$2:E2), "")

Edit: perhaps you mean this "not equal" symbol ≠
Type <> and Numbers will change it.

The formula didn't work for me because I had the next to the last parentheses in the wrong place. Thank you for showing a screenshot of how it actually looks in numbers. I was able to identify my error.
