I’m not really sure how the family plan works for Apple Music. I want to get family sharing cause me and my mom uses it why and it seems cheaper

Get an Apple Music Family subscription - Apple Support
An Apple Music Family subscription requires setting up Family Sharing. One person in the group is the organizer and financially responsible. It will require automatic payments (e.g. credit card). The organizer gets the family subscription. The other group members accept the invitation by Apple ID to join. The organizer can set what gets shared (Apple Music or more).
Outside of Apple Music:
All purchases are billed to the organizer, but content gets linked to the Apple ID of the purchaser (mostly relevant when the group gets disbanded). If your mom wants you to pay for your own non-free apps, then you will have to make compensation arrangements among yourselves. Apple ID balance (store credit) is used first, including for the other group members.
Apple Music Family costs less than two Individual subscriptions. For most regions in the 15 : 10+10 ratio.
