Take a look at this support guide:
Use a passcode with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
at section: "Change your passcode or passcode settings"

It sounds like you are confusing the phone's screen lock passcode (which is 4 or 6 digits) with your Apple ID passcode. If you explain what you are trying to do one of the volunteer users here in Apple Support Communities may be able to help.
To what are you referring? The passcode uses numbers, not a password. If you mean the former, then see the following.
Forget Passcode or Restore Device
If you forgot the passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled - Apple
How to erase your iOS device & then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups
If the above doesn’t work for you, then:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode: iPhone DFU mode explained, and how to enter DFU mode on your device.
If all fails then make an appointment at the Apple Genius Bar for service. If you need to find an Apple Store - Find a Store - Apple. If you did not purchase it from Apple then you will need to look to the vendor for service.
Sorry, Kappy. My previous reply had to be addressed to the OP "TB40".
My best regards
Giulio
