Thunderbolt Display All-in-One cable replacement

Can someone tell me what they paid at the Genius Bar to have a fraying cable replaced on the Thunderbolt Display? I contacted Apple via chat and they said $39 unless there are boards that also have to be replaced -- I'm not confident that the technician understood (even though I gave them model numbers, etc). Trying to get an idea of cost before hauling it in to the Genius Bar. $39 would be a deal!

If you aren't daisy-chaining anything from the Thunderbolt display, you don't have to replace the cable. You can connect the computer to the display's rear Thunderbolt connector with a Thunderbolt cable and not use the display's cable.
