Check settings:

SystemPreferences->Network: select WiFi at the left. If that was not selected, check to see if it works; If it is not there, add it with the + sign underneath.

if it does not work: is the network selected on the right side of the panel? If no select, if yes:

check "automatically join this network", then click the advanced button lower right, in the window that comes up select TCP/IP, in there after "configure IPv4! choose Using DHCP,

then select the next column DNS on top remove all dns servers in the elft panel with the minus sign underneath, then close this window with the "OK" button below right, then in the window that comes back click "Apply".

Try again if WiFi is connected. If not:

this is a bit more complicated: check the hosts file for corruption:

In Finder->Go menu click "Go To Folder", type this "/private/etc/hosts" (without the quotes),

The hosts file is selected, open it with Textedit:

This should be in it, exactly, nothing less, nothing more:

##

# Host Database

#

# localhost is used to configure the loopback interface

# when the system is booting. Do not change this entry.

##

127.0.0.1 localhost

255.255.255.255 broadcasthost

::1 localhost

Now if it is correct close Textedit.

if it is not exactly as above, make a copy of the whole text in the Hosts file and post it here, then close Textedit without changing it.

Post the copied text in the hosts file here.

Hello peace196,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. It's my understanding that your MacBook Pro won't connect to Wi-Fi. You've come to the right place! I'm happy to help.

If you haven't already, I recommend trying to connect with a different Wi-Fi network. If the issue persists, use Wireless Diagnostics on your Mac to analyze your Wi-Fi connection, detect issues, and find solutions.

Check for Wi-Fi issues using your Mac

Let us know the results. Please include specific error messages and any other troubleshooting steps you may have tried.

Have a great day!

The signal/noise (-28/-89) ratio is excellent.

Tx rate is not very strong (73).

I don't see a cause for bad behaviour here.

Maybe you can set the Channel (now 6) to 11.

When working you can click on the WiFi symbol in the menu bar while holding the Alt/Option key, it opens an extended menu, then select "Open Wireless Diagnostics"....

If nothing found, I hope someone will hook in soon, this is not my specialty...

Hmmmm.

Hosts file not corrupted, that is good: no "hacked" software.

You could do following:

Start "System Information" (een app in Utilities):

On the left there are three "chapters", choose the second one "Network" and de part "WiFi":

on the right there is a lot about the WiFi in your system.

Maybe you find something there, or post it here, maybe a specialist will see something that is wrong. I do not know.
