Can I stop Split View as a rule, not an exception?

I'm finding Split View annoying. Most of the time it opens in a way that I can't easily read either window (e.g., when Mail is the second window). Additionally, because an app, such as a browser, is minimized when first opened, it often disappears into a corner if I just minutely move the cursor. Help!

Nobody forces you to use split view. I never use it myself (nor do I use full screen most of the time, either).

Command-tab allows me to switch between applications easily. I am typing this in Safari, and in doing so I don't need Mail at the same time. Safari's window uses most of the screen, but still the menu bar is visible.

Next, I command-tab to read my mail, and, you guessed, I don't need to be looking at Safari.

I don't understand the part about something starting minimized. "An app is minimized when first opened"??? First there is really no such thing as an app being minimized; windows *can* be minimized, but that requires that *you* minimize them; they certainly do not start as such. Care to explain?
