Does anyone know how to fix this, what is it?

I've read that this type of error might be resolved by updating software, for the iPhone iOS try using the OTA method (ie on the device itself).


For iTunes on the computer, if it's a Mac and running Mojave you do that by going to System Preferences>Software Update, for earlier OS versions you also have the option to obtain the latest iTunes installer from the Apple web site.


If the computer is Windows then you could check if an iTunes update is available but sometimes that process can fail, so again you can obtain the installer from Apple's web site. It's also possible a Windows OS update is necessary before an iTunes update will become available.


Basically check for and ensure all software is the latest, then reboot all equipment.


It would also be wise to try an alternative cable and another USB port.
